However, through the website I came across an interesting article relating to the designer Orla Kiely, whom I have already looked into for the course of this project. The article entitled 'fresh old twist' looks into Orla Kiely's most recent series of prints and patterns. These patterns look back to Kiely's early, successful pattern 'Stem Print' and her return to it, taking on a new more modern approach to it.
This again inspires me to think carefully about the use of composition and colour in my own work. It shows me that line style and quality can very quickly change the effect or style of the design/repeat, giving it a completely different look, from modern clean colours, to paler traditional colours.

Fresh Old Twist
With mid century finds getting ever more popular, it’s no surprise that Orla Kiely – who has long been championing the style – has created a furniture and accessories collection that knocks it out of the ball park. Hailed by the Guardian as “the queen of prints”, her new range marries her signature quirky prints with contemporary interior design, resulting in a timeless, yet contemporary collection. We’re loving the wall unit, which comes with a slightly hefty €2,500 price tag.
