Today I have tutorial to discuss my results from the last project, which I have to say I completely messed up in the end. I only got 47% and when I got the mark I was devistated. Having said that it is not like it wasn't expected, I having been saying since I handed it in that I did not make use of lots of things which were important. One of those main ones was the recording and reflecting of what I have actually done. This is the main that my tutor said brought my mark down. There was work there and there was an experimentation, a journey, it just wasn't clear. Because of my lack of planning, I had not made time to research let alone talk about my research and how this has impacted my work, but this is what was missing from my work. I am a little annoyed about this, because as said last week, I enjoy the written section of the work, so why did I not do more of it.
The trouble, in my opinion, was that right from the start I did not make it clear what I wanted to do. I did not have a clear intention, because I wanted the work to lead the project, but as I have so amazingly shown, it doesn't work! My usual organised self was out of the game, not ready after that nice long relaxing summer break, it wasn't prepared.
That is the mistake I definitely do not want to make as I move this body of work ahead into Ba8. I have already begun starting to get into a routine of reflecting on my day at uni, not just copying notes, and I am making reflective notes in anPDP journal as well as on this blog and they are not just copied onto one another. Each has slightly different insights and probably the journal is more in-depth. This is a more concise version (believe it or not) because no one wants to read pages and pages off the internet!
My plan is also for the next couple of days to create a really in-depth scheme for planning the course of this project. I aim to come to the group tutorials, not having rushed into making stuff, instead with any in-depth learning agreement style plan. This will probably be really long and possibly boring for others to read, but will allow me to get everything out of my head. This version will be more for personal use, over Christmas I shall condense it ready for the start of Ba8 as a way of showing my tutors the ideas that I want to achieve, the intentions of the project.
Following my tutorial, I took the opportunity to take a break at the Norwich library. One thing I mentioned last project was that I really understood the importance of putting yourself in a variety of environments, it makes it more interesting a your complete things you could never have imagined. In the library, I sat down and began to think about the project. I will do this in more depth over the coming days, but I wanted to just do a little research into possible drawing trips as I know it is key to fit them in Asaph and if I can get something sorted for over Christmas, that would be great! However, on closer inspection, the national trust properties are all closing now and do not re open until March, as their season is now over. A little annoying, but I am glad I checked so early on so that I can quickly a simply reorganise my plan and set a different path.
Whilst at the library I got out two books based around knot making. I hope to look at these in the next couple of days as sources of inspiration and to combat that vital research that was missing from the last project.
