Pinch Punch, first of month!! :P

As usual, I took the day out today to help out at my local primary school. I was looking forward to today all week as I missed out on this last week and it's the highlight of my week.

My day, as usual, was jam packed!

In the morning me, and the other teaching assistants took all of the year 1 children out of their classes, whilst the year 2s done their SATs exams, to complete a lesson based around the story, Jack and the Beanstalk. The children were set a task to create their own finger puppets based on the characters in the story, before acting out the story in small groups. Alongside this the children were set mini activities based on creating settings and completing word-searches.

At lunchtime, I took some time out to complete some more of my research for my projects, continuing to highlight my print offs, developing an idea of what other designers are creating in relation to my own ideas.

In the afternoon, the children had some time to do some choosing, some playing, whilst I went through some of the feedback in the children's work throughout the week, going through things on a one to one level, offering extra tutoring. I enjoyed the challenge of doing this, working with children a very variety abilities, having to vary my teaching style to the child's individual needs. It is interesting to note the variety in teaching style needed to take on in teaching a whole class, to an individual child.
