I was very nervous heading into our group tutorials today. I do like getting a chance to see what everyone is getting done, but as I am not doing the same type of project as them, I feel really left out and behind because of the amount of work they are already creating. They are all well on their way to finishing a whole sketchbook, but I have not done anything similar.
Once it came round to me, I took out some of my research and my near finished plan based on Mondrian. I very timidly, set down to explain my idea and what I aimed to do. I think everyone understood what I wanted to achieve and what I was going to do.
My tutor said that the plan was very thorough, but that this one especially was not really related to textile practice. If I chose to write all my plans like this, then i would be hard for the tutors to mark my work. This is where it kind of spiralled out of control and people started suggesting some wacky ideas!
The part I am finding hard is to relate my work to both the learning outcomes and the national curriculum. It is all-right everyone suggesting wacky ideas, but if I can't actually teach any of the lessons in a school, what is the point doing all this work! I need to find a strategy where I can get on with work, and quickly. I need to complete my plans a lot quicker in order to for-fill my deadline for the project. I need to work quicker!!
