As well as understanding that there is a lot I need to create and do to get this project off and running, but I think, as I have said before, research is the most important, especially at this stage. SO, today I took the opportunity of an un-timetabled day of uni work, I went into the primary school I volunteer in on a Friday, to gather some more research, hands on experience into teaching.
All this week, the school have focus on a mini project based around artists. This is one of the main reasons I chose to go in extra today, to get more experience of how art is taught in schools. In this section of the project, I want to look at how art is taught in schools, but also how art/textiles can be used in teaching. It was a very interesting day and the main activity in the afternoon was based around create art out of everyday objects, physically that were photographed.
I took lots of photos of the children working and liked how enthusiastic they were are creating their own artwork out of the simplest things. This is an idea I can bring into my own work as a quick activity to generate ideas.
After my time at the school, I started creating some of my lesson plans starting with Mondrian. It is amazing how much work goes into each lesson plan!
