8th January 2014 - Research, 'Fashion Design' By Sue Jenkyn Jones

Whilst looking in the library at Uni for possible sources of research relating to my Bradford Textile work on machine knitting, I came across this book based on fashion. this book gave me a really valuable insight into how knitting is used in the fashion industry. Displayed below are a collection of notes taken from the book...

CLOTHING QUALITY
The quality of clothing varies greatly of many decisive factors including price, fit and material. Knitwear is often cut and sewn for use at the lower end of the market, whereas at the higher end of the market it is normally fully fashioned, knitted to use, and luxury yarns such as cashmere and silk which cannot be imitated at the lower end market.

MANUFACTURE
Recent innovations in textile design have led to computer aided knitting, which leads to the production of full knitted garments with collars and pockets in less than 45 minutes.
