BA5 assessment feedback form

BA5 Assessment Feedback Form.

Displayed below is my feedback from the previous BA5 project, which I aim to use as a starting point for the next project. I have to admit that I am absolutely devastated at the mark I have achieved in the project, it is my lowest so far and it has left me feeling a little disheartened. It makes me really question my motif into being at uni, am I actually achieving anything here. I knew that the project was not going to be the best one I have done, I could feel it, but I was not prepared for the mark!

From here I need to read through the assessment feedback and create a plan for the next project. I think it may be better if i accumulate this over the next couple of days because I feel just overwhelmed with =, i suppose just annoyance with myself. I seem to work all the time, trying to put in as much effort as I can, but it wasn't good enough. If i formulate a plan for BA6, then I will hopefully be able to construct a more informed and focused project which will be the turning point in my understanding of the the way I need to work and progress whilst at uni.

LO 8: Articulate the findings of your research and practice using appropriate means of communication.

Satisfactory - Your work demonstrates limited evidence of ability to articulate and present the findings of your research and results of your practice.
Strengths:

Essay. Your essay question is good and your have explored all the issues it raises in a considered and reflective manner. There is a focus to the writing throughout and you are careful not to stray too far from your subject as you could have when you began to discuss problems in broader textile production and garment manufacture. Your writing is good and there is evidence that this is underpinned with some good relevant research.
There is evidence on your blog of some interesting research that relates to your practice and there is some reflection on the workshops you have attended. PDP across your practice is good and will help you move your work forward. You have been proactive in seeking out research opportunities such as the Surface Design show in London.
Within your sketchbooks there are some interesting ideas emerging. Your sublimation printing on knitting and your ideas with melted plastics, and weaving into the bonded carpet mesh both offer potential for further work.
There is evidence that you are developing your digital skills and your skills in knitting although this does need more work.
Areas for development:Essay. You need to make sure you are using Harvard Referencing. Look this up on the NUA library intranet pages. There may be further research potential here and you could consider this in preparation for your Research Report next academic year, perhaps looking in more depth at designers using organic fibres.
The lack of drawing and repetitive use of the skyline image has limited the development of your ideas. You need much more visual research and your need to continue to develop this throughout your project. You have had some interesting ideas in terms of use of materials and combinations of materials but these are not developed and lack resolution.
Although your skills have improved to some extent you need to invest much more time in this and in improving your materials research.
You need to consider how you can make more use of the things you are learning in the workshops and how you can build on these strategies to help you develop your own work to much more refined outcomes.
You need to develop your research more rigorously looking at the work of artists and designers that can inspire your work. Continue to extend your blog ensuring that it contains rigorous reflection and not just commentary on the workshops you have attended. Visually the blog looks good but make sure it supports your learning.
You need to manage your time more effectively, you have barely addressed your second competition.
You need to seek tutorial support to help you address issues of presentation within your work.
