Orla Kiely is a designer who creates furnishings and accessories for interiors. The brand Orla Kiely was launched in the early 90s and is still now, based upon the same ideas of colour, pattern, graphical control, texture and rhythm. Many commercial shops sell Orla Kiely designs, including John Lewis.
Orla Kiely’s work is simple and bold. She uses ideas from natural forms to create simplistic, bold prints. Orla Kiely has been a designer since the 90s through which she has created a womenswear line, accessories, travel and homeware. Kiely uses simple, natural forms in her work developed through graphic patterns and the use of bright, bold colours. Work created by Kiely uses representational ideas and mixes them with abstract work. Her work uses big, bold shapes which makes the repeat designs have a modern twist.
